Red Lobster Rallies . . .

Bringing the World's Attention
to the Canadian Slaughter of Seals

RALLY AT YOUR LOCAL RED LOBSTER

We are encouraging our members, supporters, and friends to rally in front of local Red Lobster Restaurants. You can distribute leaflets (PDF) to educate the public and ask Red Lobster to join the Boycott of Canadian Seafood.

The Red Lobster restaurant chain is the world's largest purchaser of Canadian seafood and, (in particular, seafood sold by Canadian sealers), and therefore, can do more to end the Canadian seal slaughter than any other company. For this reason, organizations are doing all they can to convince Red Lobster to help end the Canadian commercial seal slaughter by not buying and selling Canadian seafood. So far, Red Lobster has refused to do so.

Visit the Red Lobster's location finder webpage to find a restaurant near you. http://www.redlobster.com/locator/

If you would like banners and/or posters, please e-mail: volunteer@seashepherd.org

  • Red Lobster Rallies have been held regularly (since June 25, 2005) at Red Lobster restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. Please visit our Red Lobster Rally page to read Volunteers' reports and view pictures of the action. To learn more about the crucial role Red Lobster plays in having the power to stop the seal slaughter please visit our Boycott page.
  • Worldwide DEmonstrations Against the Canadian Slaughter of Seals will be held on Wendnesday, March 15, 2008, at Canadian embassies and consulates and other locations around the world. Please visit our Seal Demonstrations Report page to read the 2005 Volunteer Protest Leaders' reports and view pictures of the action from last year's activities.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE - DEMONSTRATE!

Any time is a good time to let the Canadian government know how you feel about this horrific slaughter!

Here are some ideas for your ACTION:

DEMONSTRATE AGAINST THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT

  • Stage your demonstration at a site other than a government building. You will have more flexibility in planning the demonstration to occur at a time of the day or evening when you think you can gain a larger audience.
  • Consider holding it outside a restaurant or a grocery store that sells Canadian seafood.
  • Hold an all-night vigil.
  • Set-up a seal cemetery; hold public funerals for the seals.
  • Promote the Canadian Seafood Boycott during your demonstration. Please visit our Boycott page for more information.
  • Hold formal or informal negotiations with representatives of restaurants and/or grocery stores asking them to stop selling Canadian seafood. Retailers joining the boycott will help put financial pressure on Canada to stop the annual seal hunt.
  • If you choose to stage your demonstration in front of a Canadian government building, consulate, or embassy, click here for a list of addresses.

Please contact our Sea Shepherd Volunteer Coordinator for more information and resources: volunteer@seashepherd.org

Please note: Generally demonstrators must remain on the public sidewalks. If you have any doubts you should check with your city to determine its requirements before the demonstration. After the demonstration, the Demonstration Leader should enter the building to deliver the copies of the petitions to the official on duty. One other person could accompany the Demonstration Leader to photograph the delivery. [Note: Please make sure you photocopy the petitions and send the original set back to the Sea Shepherd headquarters].

THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORTS - THIS SEAL SLAUGHTER HAS GOT TO BE STOPPED.
YOUR PARTICIPATION IS ESSENTIAL!
