Two pangas were seen fishing illegally in the ZTA today with lots of Navy activity. Cynthia Patricia panga was observed pulling nets. This panga then approached us aggressively after pulling their last net and threatened us. They chased the Farley Mowat as we fled west towards San Felipe at 10:15. At 10:30 they broke away from us to meet with another panga in the CE sector. These 2 pangas drove SW towards San Felipe at 11:30. SITREP was sent 09:30 and Navy vessel Interceptor arrived at 11:20 and continued its course towards N sector of the ZTA. Two more Navy vessels, another Interceptor and a Defender were sent to escort us back towards the ZTA. At 13:10 the second Interceptor broke away to patrol the E sector of the ZTA.  By 13:45 all 3 Navy vessels had left the ZTA west towards San Felipe. Another SITREP was sent at 14:00 regarding panga Yaqueillin pulling nets in the N sector of the ZTA. Navy responded telling us the Interceptor previously in the N sector had already instructed them to pull their nets from the area.

Figure 1. Panga activity in the ZTA. Spike in unknown pangas at 10:30 and 15:30 were pangas north of the ZTA crossing west towards San Felipe.

Figure 2. Navy Interceptor and panga Cynthia Patrica. Target TT042 was the 2 pangas, target TT043 was the Navy vessel Interceptor. At this time the 2 pangas stayed stationary for approx. ~10min.

Figure 3. Radar target TT048 was panga Yaqueillin fishing illegally in the N sector of ZTA. Other radar targets are pangas crossing ZTA from the northern cluster in the VR.
