Around 14:29 the navy interceptor with inspectors of PROFEPA on board started to patrol the North Area of the ZTA. “small fishing boats were fishing in the area, after some talk, the Navy started to remove one of the nets from the water, the other boat was pulling a net at the same time. The fishing boats left the area, and the interceptor pulled the rest of the net.
For the next hours until sunset, the interceptor and the navy warship patrolled the area and removed fishing gear inside the ZTA from 3 different boats in different areas. Today we saw a large number of fishing boats in the north area of the vaquita refuge and on the border of the ZTA, we kept patrolling the area to detect possible fishing gear inside the ZTA, boats are going inside leaving the nets and then parking outside the ZTA.
