At 08:41, a small boat was found with flags fishing inside the ZTA. The Navy couldn’t be contacted at the moment but once the small boat saw the M/V Seahorse, they pulled their nets in and left. An hour later, flags/nets were found inside the ZTA, and a couple of minutes after, the same small boat approached the M/V Seahorse. They stated that those flags were theirs and if it was inside the ZTA or not. Once we confirmed to them that it was inside, they left to retrieve their nets and moved them out of the ZTA.

Around 15 hours the MV Seahorse detected a net under the water with the sonar.

The navy was contacted and about 30 minutes later the interceptor with federal inspectors arrived in the area.

On board, the interceptor, crew from sea shepherd, and the navy retrieved the net. The Navy confiscated the illegal gear.

The operation finished around 17:30.
