Yes, Cleveland may be home to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but it is also home to one of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s newest Chapters. Sea Shepherd Cleveland has been established by a group of activists from throughout NE Ohio who are committed to helping Defend, Conserve, and Protect our oceans and all marine wildlife. And with our home being on one of the Great Lakes, we look forward to positively participating in and contributing to issues affecting our Lake Erie ecosystem.
As Captain Paul Watson frequently warns, “If the oceans die, we die.” Therefore, Sea Shepherd Cleveland engages in a wide range of activities in support of the organization’s ongoing campaigns and dedicated crews. Public education on the increasingly serious threats to our ocean ecosystems and the actions that Sea Shepherd takes to address them is a top priority, and our outreach activities include tabling at events, social media engagement, documentary film screenings, as well as other unique presentation formats. We also understand the importance of fundraising to keep the fleet fueled and the crews fed, and we welcome creative suggestions from our supporters on ways we can help raise much-needed funds. Finally, from March through November we have monthly beach cleanups, which are a great way to connect with and have a positive impact on our local community.
We want to thank all of the Onshore Volunteers who have stepped up to help us support and fulfill Sea Shepherd’s vital mission, and we welcome those of you who would like to join us. For more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
