Marco García is an environmental lawyer from Chile. Inspired by the vastness of his country’s coastline and marine biodiversity, he first joined Sea Shepherd in 2008.

He is the principal advisor to Sea Shepherd’s capacity-building projects in Latin America. Currently focusing on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, he supports Sea Shepherd’s partnerships with governments to eliminate IUU fishing, including by providing legal training to public prossecutors in Latin American countries and advising them on judicial cases related to IUU. He has lectured university seminars on international instruments that can be used to combat and eliminate IUU fishing, and was recognized in 2013 as one of Chile’s “100 Young Leaders” for his contribution and commitment towards protecting marine wildlife and the ocean.
