❗️THE 300th FAD RETRIEVED❗️

On Saturday, the 300th FAD (Fish Aggregating Device) was retrieved from the Mediterranean Sea. This is a new record for Operation Siso.

300 FADs means approximately 500km of polypropylene and nylon line, as well as 1000 plastic bottles and jerrycans, pulled out of the water.

FADs work by attracting fish under their shadow so fishermen can catch them easily. They stay in the water for months, killing turtles and other migrating marine species.

Thanks to your support and the support of our partners, our relentless crew will continue to break their own records this year, retrieving more and more illegal fishing gear, and protecting the Mediterranean sea.
