Crewmembers arrive on our ships from ordinary lives and far-off cities, united by a single cause. Lines are cast off, and together they sail for the frontlines: defending marine wildlife in some of the most dangerous waters on Earth.
Sea Shepherd’s twin ships, Bob Barker and Seahorse, intercept poachers and pull lethal nets in the Vaquita Porpoise Refuge. The Allankay, deployed in Antarctica’s Southern Ocean, exposes industrial krill trawlers. Our crews in the Yucatán defend a vibrant, but threatened, reef while in Greece crews haul up thousands of illegal octopus traps. This is Sea Shepherd at work.
Crew Spotlight
Macer (UK) — a bosun leading deck operations that power every mission, from launching boats to deploying fast teams that intercept poachers, haul nets, or bring scientists to rescue animals.
Heidy (USA) — a marine scientist working in the Vaquita Refuge, protecting the last remaining vaquita and monitoring entangled sea lions and other species caught in deadly gillnets.
Julia (UK) — a ship’s medical officer aboard the Seahorse and the Allankay. Our medics care for the crew during long patrols while also serving as deckhands and maintaining boats in recovering ecosystems.
Get Involved
Sea Shepherd is powered by people: donors who fund the fight, and volunteers who take it to the front lines. Many of our crew began as volunteer deckhands, medics, photographers, and filmmakers, answering the call to defend the ocean.
If you can’t volunteer, you can still stand with us. Monthly donors in our Direct Action Crew keep our ships moving and our crews ready for action. Members receive exclusive mission updates and 20% off all items in the Sea Shepherd Store.
Join the Fight
Illegal nets removed. Poachers deterred. The reef still needs defenders. Power the mission with a monthly donation.
