Sea Shepherd Fleet

Volunteer
At Sea.

For nearly 50 years, Sea Shepherd has defended marine wildlife on the front lines — intercepting poachers, dismantling illegal fishing operations, and exposing crimes against the ocean. Our fleet depends on volunteers. People who trade weeks or months of their lives for real work on a campaign vessel. If that's you, apply.

Volunteer Story

Holly

Volunteer Deckhand · M/V Bob Barker

Holly joined Sea Shepherd without knowing if she had the right experience — and ended up patrolling the waters of Baja California alongside the M/V Seahorse, protecting the critically endangered vaquita. Two months on deck: driving RIBs, night watches, maintenance, and working alongside scientists on live population surveys.

"Take the jump and put your application in, because you won't regret it."

Since 1977

A Legacy ofFrontline Action.

Sea Shepherd's ships have confronted illegal activity in some of the most remote and dangerous parts of the world's oceans. Volunteering at sea means joining this legacy — intercepting poachers, dismantling deadly fishing gear, and driving illegal operations out of marine protected areas. Step aboard and contribute to nearly half a century of relentless marine defense.

Note: There is a $100 fee to apply. This helps keep our applicants serious and our staff focused. If life at sea isn't for you, there are other ways to volunteer on land. Learn more.
