Support direct action at sea

On November 1 we open a $1,000,000 Matching Gift Challenge to put two fast boats on the water at Scorpion Reef. Gifts to the match pool double every dollar our supporters give through December 31.

Generous donors have set up a $1,000,000 Matching Gift Challenge. Every dollar given by December 31 is matched to put two fast boats on the water at Scorpion Reef.

Our crews fly quadcopters over the reef today. This Giving Tuesday we are raising support for fixed-wing drones, which stay up longer and cover far more of the reserve.

Your year-end gifts, doubled by the supporters who built our match pool, are helping put two fast boats on the water at Scorpion Reef.

Sea Shepherd receives no government funding. Our campaigns exist because people like you back direct action for the oceans.

Chad on patrol at Scorpion Reef
A letter from Chad Jacobs

Dear Friend,

I spend part of each year on the frontlines at sea. On land, my job is to talk with Sea Shepherd’s most generous supporters, because everything we accomplish out there is made possible by the people who fund it.

Earlier this year I spent time at Scorpion Reef, and I can tell you firsthand it is worth protecting. Once you see how much life these waters hold, you understand what is at stake.

I have spent time at Scorpion Reef, and I can tell you firsthand it is worth protecting. Once you see how much life these waters hold, you understand what is at stake.

Talking with supporters is the most rewarding part of my work. If we’ve spoken, I hope you know how much I valued it. If we haven’t yet, I would very much like to.

Thank you. Your year-end gifts, doubled by the supporters who built our $1,000,000 match pool, are helping put two fast boats on the water at Scorpion Reef.

I have seen what our crews face out there, and I know what those boats will mean to them.

As Sea Shepherd turns 50 this year, I will keep you close to the work at the reef. If you would like to hear where your gift is going, I would love to talk.

For the oceans,Chadwick JacobsDirector of Philanthropy

P.S. Before the challenge opens on November 1, I am asking a small group of supporters to build the match pool. I would be glad to add your name.

P.S. Every year-end gift is doubled by our $1,000,000 Matching Gift Challenge until December 31.

P.S. This Giving Tuesday, help us bring fixed-wing drones to the reef. Every gift is still matched through December 31.

Naming rights

Fast interceptor boats

Interceptors like the Seahawk launch from our ships to reach poaching boats far from shore.

The match will put two new interceptors on the water.

Your gifts are putting two new interceptors on the water.

02The threat

What our crews are up against

Poachers come to Scorpion Reef for queen conch, octopus, grouper, snapper and lobster. This is what our crews find.

A shark on a fishing boat our crews inspected
Illegal catch seized with Mexican authorities
Queen conch and dive gear taken from poachers
Detaining a fishing boat inside the reserve
6,300+
square miles of protected ocean
1,500+
pounds of illegal catch seized from one vessel this year
24/7
a permanent presence alongside Mexican authorities

We need more boats to enable our crew to defend more of the reef.
