Dear Friend,
I spend time each year on the frontlines at sea. When I’m on land, my job is to talk with Sea Shepherd’s most generous supporters, because everything we accomplish out there is made possible by the people who fund this work.
Earlier this year, I spent time at Scorpion Reef, and I can tell you firsthand: this is a place worth protecting. When you are there and see the incredible abundance of life these waters support, you understand what is at stake.

Conversations with supporters are the most rewarding part of what I do. If we’ve had the chance to speak, I hope you know how much I valued it. And if we haven’t connected yet, please know I would very much like to talk with you.
Thank you. Your year-end gifts, doubled by the supporters who built our $1,000,000 match pool, are helping put two fast boats on the water at Scorpion Reef.
I have seen what our crews face out there, and I know what those boats will mean to them.
As Sea Shepherd turns 50 this year, I will keep you close to the work at the reef. If you would like to hear where your gift is going, I would love to talk.

P.S. Before the challenge opens on November 1, I am asking a small group of supporters to build the match pool. I would be glad to add your name.
P.S. Your year-end gift will be doubled through our $1,000,000 Matching Gift Challenge until December 31.
P.S. This Giving Tuesday, help us bring fixed-wing drones to the reef. Every gift is still matched through December 31.

What our crews are up against
Poachers come to Scorpion Reef for queen conch, octopus, grouper, snapper and lobster. This is what our crews find.
- 6,300+
- square miles of protected ocean
- 1,500+
- pounds of illegal catch seized from one vessel this year
- 24/7
- a permanent presence alongside Mexican authorities
We need more boats to enable our crew to defend more of the reef.
Chad Jacobs
What your gift puts on the water
The match will put two fast North River boats on the water to reach poachers far from shore.

Fast boats reach the small poaching boats that work the reef far from shore.
Our crews fly quadcopters over the reef every day. Next we want to bring fixed-wing drones, which stay up longer and see far more of the protected area.
