On June 8, World Ocean Day, the crews of the M/V Sharkwater and M/V Roger Payne are planning a beach cleanup at Isla Desterrada located in Yucatán, Mexico, inside Alacranes Reef (Scorpion Reef), the site of our newest Sea Shepherd protection campaign.

Sea Shepherd, in partnership with the Government of Mexico, has undertaken the monumental task of protecting the reef, and we understand that one part of that protection is removing plastic and debris from the islands and inside the reef.

The cleanup will take place at Isla Desterrada, the northernmost of the five islands located inside Scorpion Reef. The 15 Sea Shepherd crew members will be accompanied by government officials from Conanp, Conapesca, Profepa, and Semarnat.
