Planned-Estate Giving

Protect the Oceans for Future Generations

Become a Shepherd Forever – Planned Giving

Sea Shepherd will be protecting the oceans for many years to come and you can help. By including Sea Shepherd in your estate planning through planned giving, you provide essential resources so that we can continue safeguarding the oceans and marine wildlife for decades to come.

The Shepherds Forever Society, begun in 2006,  honors individuals who have made a provision for a future gift to Sea Shepherd through a bequest in their will or other arrangement such as a retirement plan or life insurance beneficiary designation.

Sea Shepherd is grateful to our supporters who have already advised us of their intentions to provide a future gift by naming Sea Shepherd in their will.  These individuals have been honored with “founding member” status in the Shepherds Forever Society.

Your planned gift to Sea Shepherd enshrines your passion and commitment to protecting the oceans.  There are many ways to make a planned gift that will offer tax benefits to you and enable you to leave a legacy that will help Sea Shepherd protect, conserve, and defend the oceans for generations to come. If you have already remembered Sea Shepherd in your will or other planned gift and would like to notify us, please print and return our Shepherds Forever Notification form. If you have any questions about how you can make a planned gift, e-mail us at donations@seashepherd.org.

The world we build for future generations depends on what we do today. Our whales, sharks, dolphins, and all marine life need a voice that speaks loudly, takes positive actions, and provides enduring solutions.

Be a Part of the Solution and Touch the Future!

By making a gift in your will to Sea Shepherd, you are not only bringing longevity to your values and ideals, you are taking an incredibly powerful step to protect the world’s oceans for tomorrow. A planned giving gift also offers many financial benefits because many countries’ tax laws are structured to encourage charitable giving.  Unlimited amounts can generally be left for charitable purposes free of estate and gift taxes. And you do not need a great deal of wealth to make a difference.  Every dollar means an extra chance for endangered species and fragile ecosystems.

It may be difficult to think of preparing it now – however, a will protects your family and your assets for the future and removes unnecessary stress, expense, and legal problems.

A bequest is a gift nominated in your will, and a bequest can be or combine any of the following:

  • Cash
  • A percentage of the overall value of your estate
  • Retirement plan or life insurance beneficiary designation
  • Securities
  • Personal property (artwork, jewelry, etc)

Due to the complexity of planned giving, we strongly suggest that you contact your tax advisor and/or legal advisor. If you would like to receive our Shepherds Forever Planned Giving information packet or would like to notify us of a bequest, please contact:
