On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Sea Shepherd crew members participated in a beach cleanup on Isla Perez, located at Scorpion Reef in the Gulf of Mexico. Bepensa Foundation, in partnership with the Yucalpeten Yacht Club, organized this biannual event.

The Foundation brought together community volunteers who traveled to the reef to remove plastic and other marine debris from the island, helping to protect one of Mexico's most important marine ecosystems.

Nearly 100 volunteers participated in the cleanup, including crew members from Sea Shepherd's M/V Sharkwater. Together, they collected and removed almost 700 kilograms of trash from the island.
This successful effort highlights the Bepensa Foundation's ongoing commitment to addressing environmental challenges while demonstrating the strength of collaboration between Sea Shepherd, local organizations, and the community in protecting our oceans.
